Renato Guerrieri ’15 was enjoying a pony ride in Miletus, Turkey, last spring when fellow traveler and classmate Julia Rich ’14 snapped this photo. Miletus, formerly an important ancient Greek city, is home to well-preserved ruins, including a Temple of Apollo.
The site was, as often, flooded during a recent storm, leaving the group to admire the stone columns and arches from afar, but a local man provided some entertainment when he let them take turns riding his pony (note the jacket for a saddle!).
Guerrieri was among nine Davidson students visiting the major Greco-Roman archaeological sites and museums in Greece, Turkey and Italy through the Classics Semester Abroad program with Professor Jeanne Neumann.
