Grand Slam Grad

Walker Lyons ’11, from Wallingford, Pa., was among the 436 men and women to receive a Davidson diploma on Chambers Lawn on May 15. A standout on the tennis court, Lyons also excelled in the classroom, majoring in history. Named to the SoCon All-Academic Team twice, he earned SoCon Academic Honor Roll honors three times. He wrapped up his final season with the Davidson men’s tennis team this year by collecting eight singles wins and adding another 10 in doubles play. He and Ethan Kallick ’14 teamed up in doubles and went 5–4 vs. the Southern Conference. A starter from his first day as a first-year student, Lyons finished his Wildcat career with 37 singles wins and 38 in doubles action. He set a career-high in his first year with 12 singles wins, and in three of his four seasons tallied at least 10 doubles wins. Next? Teaching tennis and applying to med school.
