Willie Thompson ’58 Hampden-Sydney College’s James Madison Award for Lifetime of Public Service.

Paul Leonard ’62 has received an honorary degree from Davidson for his longstanding commitment to creating affordable housing, particularly through his leadership of Habitat for Humanity.

Kent N. Tucker ’63 has received the Distinguished Service Award from the North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS), for outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to dentistry and to the improvement of the health of the people of North Carolina.

Peggy Noel ’79, founder of MemoryCare, a North Carolina-based medical clinic for assessment, treatment, and support for memory-impaired individuals, has been awarded the American Geriatric Society’s 2011 Clinician of the Year Award.

Taylor Williams ’79, an extension agent in commercial and consumer horticulture, field crops, and pesticide education with the Moore County Center of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, earned the 2010 N.C. Extension Agent of the Year.
