SNAP! Splendor in the Class

Adam Lewicki ’11 takes chalk to blackboard to explain a concept to the six other students in a Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry class, in Davidson’s new classroom—wall-free and open-air. Sarah Deloach ’10, Kaitlin Roberts ’13, and Leah Baldasare ’13 won a college “Green Grant” to transform an unused patch of grass hidden by high bushes at the corner of E.H. Little Library into a picturesque spot for learning. Kimbrough Professor John Swallow likes holding class in the new space, saying, “It allows us to enjoy the seasons, while its seclusion reduces distractions you ordinarily face when meeting classes on the lawn.”
