Over winter break I had the opportunity to volunteer at Hosanna School in Marañon, a primary and secondary school in the rural mountains of Honduras. This photo captures one of the outer walls of José’s house. Within this village, his family lives in a comfortable home because of his father’s relatively stable job as a construction worker. This is a fancy house, not for the electricity but for the pet parrot, since it is rare for families to keep animals other than as food. But for me, this photo captures the beauty of simplicity, the lifestyle of a student and a memory of Honduras.
